GOOD MORNING ☀️

Another day, another email. I hope the middle of your week is going well.

I know it's not the case for all grandmas, but sometimes during the holidays, I find myself unsure of what to say or do. Not that I'm sad or anything like that. If that's you, here are some ideas below in the first post.

Have a beautiful day!

🗨️ CONVERSATION OF THE DAY

Ask your grandchild: Are you excited for the holidays coming up? What in particular?

📚 STORY OF THE DAY

Title:The Man With The Golden Arm

This is a true story.

In the quiet corridors of hospitals across Australia, a legacy flows through the veins of countless individuals, a narrative of life-saving generosity written not in words, but in blood. This is the story of an ordinary man with an extraordinary gift—a man known affectionately as the "Man with the Golden Arm."

James Harrison was just a teenager when he underwent a major chest surgery, receiving blood transfusions that saved his life. Upon waking, he made a vow—a pledge of gratitude to the faceless donors who had given him a second chance at life. He promised to donate his blood as soon as he was old enough.

True to his word, at the age of 18, James began what would become his life's routine. Every few weeks, he would visit the blood bank, roll up his sleeve, and give a part of himself to help others. It was a simple act, he thought, a mere inconvenience of his time.

But his blood was far from ordinary. In a twist of fate, it was discovered that James's blood contained a rare antibody. This antibody was the key to making a life-saving medication for Rhesus disease—a condition where the blood of pregnant mothers attacks their unborn babies.

Suddenly, James found himself at the epicenter of a medical breakthrough. His blood could save lives, not just in the moment, but potentially prevent a condition that threatened thousands of babies each year.

For over sixty years, James Harrison kept his appointment with destiny. His arm, always ready, was pricked well over a thousand times. And with each donation, the ripple of his impact grew wider.

Then, the day came for his final donation. Regulations stipulated an end to his journey—no one over 81 could donate blood. As James lay back for the last time, the true weight of his contributions became apparent.

It's estimated that James's blood has directly saved the lives of over 2.4 million babies. The "Man with the Golden Arm," an unassuming hero, had changed the course of medical history.

And so, as James Harrison quietly stepped back into the tapestry of everyday life, his legacy continued to pulse in the heartbeats of millions. An ordinary man who, with every beat of his own heart, gave the gift of life to a generation yet to be born.
